The 5 Rules To Being An Imaginary Friend is a short film about an imaginary friend's memories of his 'person' and how his time spent with her has affected him. Having to teach others how to be imaginary friends, Joe is reminded of his best friend Emily and how the two of them used to be inseparable. As we take a look at his life and his time spent with Emily, we learn of his heartbreak at losing her and eventually having to let her grow up. Looking back at things with discretion however, Joe is able to teach the newest recruits valuable lessons about being imaginary friends and making the most out of their time with their 'persons.' Because as Joe knows, just like the sense of awe and wonder of a child, an imaginary friend's job is only temporary.
